April 6-April 10: PS/PreK: Enjoy your choice of books from the link below. They are really fun! Kinder-2nd grade: We have been reading through the Redbud Read Aloud books. (2nd had not yet gotten involved but will remember from last year). The two books going against each other this week are Crash, Splash, or Moo! and This is My Room. Listen to those 2 books and you can email your vote to me. Feel free to enjoy any that you want to hear again! From the publishers: These videos were created so we can complete our Redbud Read-Aloud Program this year and submit our votes. These videos may only be used by families from our school. This is where I will post million word readers so keep going!! March 30-April 3: Parents, During this time of remote learning, I would like to offer some ideas for your children to try. For your students that love structured school time, I think they might enjoy Scholastic's Learn at Home program. It offers age appropriate books, games, and activities with a new theme each day. For students that don't love to snuggle up on the couch with a book, try finding a way to let them move while reading. Do you have a rocking chair or a yoga ball? I even have students that like to pace around the big rug in the library while they read. The border of the rug gives them a boundary out of the corner of their eye so they don't crash! Very soon 2nd-4th grade students will be able to take AR tests from home. Your teachers will give direction about this and if your student has a goal of reaching a million words or more, they can still go for it! I will publish the names of the million word readers every few weeks. And for the golden ticket to get your students to read aloud....the Novel Effect app. This app provides background music and sound effects as your student reads aloud. Second graders will remember doing a How the Grinch Stole Christmas readers theater using this app. Kindergarten heard The Snowy Day with this app. You will even love it if you are the one reading aloud! You can look up books that you have at home and they also have downloads you can read from. This is SO fun!! Give it a try. I would love to hear from you all. Feel free to email me, invite me to zoom with you, call or FaceTime me! My cell number is 405-204-3335. ****I will let you know the plan for returning library books soon. Just hang on to them for now.*** For Scholastic Learn at Home, copy and paste this link: https://classroommagazines.scholastic.com/support/learnathome.html?caching Check back to the specials website as we will update each week with more ideas and fun!! |
